The Salzburger Sportwelt is located directly on one of the most beautiful long-distance hiking trails in the Alps: the Salzburger Almenweg. With 25 stages and 350 km, it leads through the Salzburg mountains and alpine pastures. Follow in the footsteps of the blue gentian on this long-distance hike.

The stages can be chosen at will and must be documented with a stamp in the designated fields in the Salzburger Almenweg brochure. The individual stamps per stage are available at every mountain hut along the Almenweg. If a stamp is missing or the stamping point is closed, the data can be entered in the relevant field yourself or confirmed at the local tourist office with a stage stamp. The hiking badges can be obtained from any tourist office in Pongau on presentation of the required control stamps and payment of a contribution towards expenses of EUR 4.50.
Most of the huts have bed linen in the (multi-bed) rooms and dormitories. If you have a light hut sleeping bag that does not make your luggage unnecessarily heavy, please take it with you.
Most huts serve a so-called Brettljause with cheese, bacon, sausage, butter and bread. The alpine summer huts offer home-grown products or products that have been produced in the region. It is recommended to ask for special regional specialties, as many of the alpine huts have designated their culinary specialties as "Almenweg Schmankerl".
Access routes to the stages of the Almenweg are mostly gravel roads and can mostly be used with baby carriages. On the Almenweg itself, it is better to take small children with you in a back carrier. In addition, most places in the valley have numerous hiking and walking trails that are especially suitable for families with small children in baby carriages.
Dogs can of course be taken along the stages of the hike on the Salzburger Almenweg. Avoid contact with grazing cattle. Do not leave paths on alpine pastures. If necessary, keep a safe distance from grazing animals. Dogs should generally be kept on a lead in the mountains. If you are staying overnight in a hut with a dog, clarify in advance whether this is also possible at the respective accommodation.
No, the Almenweg is designed as a hiking trail and should only be used as such. However, there are signposted mountain bike trails in every village/region.
