Some businesses in the Salzburger Sportwelt - from small private guesthouses to 5-star hotels - have specially designed their infrastructure for guests with limited mobility.
For most people, being able to move around freely is a normal part of everyday life. To ensure that travelers with disabilities can also use buses and trains comfortably, transport companies offer a range of services and options.
Local Transport
Almost all S-Bahn and Regional Express (REX) trains are low-floor vehicles and therefore accessible without barriers. Booking a mobility service in advance is generally not required. Please check the timetable information to see if your chosen mode of transport is barrier-free.
Local Bus Transport
In bus transport, getting on board is not always unrestricted for people with disabilities or limited mobility, due to the construction of buses and bus stops. However, some buses are equipped with lifts or ramps and have designated spaces for wheelchairs. We are happy to assist you in planning your journey to make it as smooth as possible.
Long-Distance Travel
In long-distance travel, both nationally and internationally, ÖBB operates specially adapted train cars for passengers in wheelchairs. These cars feature accessible restrooms and are marked in the timetable with a wheelchair symbol and notes such as "with wheelchair space" or "with wheelchair-accessible WC." Depending on the type of train car, multiple wheelchair spaces are available, each including a free seat reservation for a companion. In some cases, the wheelchair spaces are located in first-class cars, but passengers in wheelchairs and their companions can still travel with second-class tickets. Additionally, there is an at-seat service for food and beverages.
