A Summer Cable Car & Autumn Hiking in Filzmoos

If you want to experience an unforgettable day in the mountains, the best thing to do is come to Filzmoos for a summer cable car & autumn hiking.

Gentle sunshine, colourful plays of light in the sky and fresh mountain air: especially now in September, nature is literally crying out for a mountain tour and invites us to spend a few beautiful hours on the surrounding peaks. Fortunately, we can also explore the local mountains via the region's lifts and experience a feeling of freedom at fascinating heights. In Salzburger Sportwelt, there are quite a few excursion destinations for this. This is also the case in Filzmoos, where you can actually make a beautiful autumn day unforgettable with a lift ride up the Rossbrand on the summer cable car.

A feeling of freedom

Not only in winter, but also in summer, the Papageno cable car transports you high up above Filzmoos: from the centre of village, you can reach the top station in just seven minutes and, at an altitude of 1,770 metres, enjoy a wonderful 360-degree panorama with views of over 150 striking alpine peaks. Especially if you want to get up the mountain quickly on a beautiful autumn day or if you're out and about with the kids, a ride on the cable car is a particularly good idea. For all younger visitors, there is a new playground in the immediate vicinity of the mountain station.

Verschiedene Wanderrouten

From the mountain station, various hikes are possible in all directions. Either you hike along the ridge to the Radstädter Hütte, down the valley towards Radstadt or back to Filzmoos. There is also a forest path that leads directly to the Moosalm (walking time: 30 minutes). This route is an ideal option for a Sunday outing for two, with the family or with children. During the hike you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Bischofsmütze, the Rettenstein and the Dachstein massif.
Finally, at the Moosalm there is the possibility to have a little refreshment in the form of mushroom dishes, summer salads, delicious cakes or homemade soups. After a short rest, you can hike back from the Moosalm towards the centre of the village (another 30 minutes' walk).  There is a special themed trail for children on this route: you pass 15 small wooden boxes, each of which is home to an animal and a matching stamp to be collected.
